Have you ever been stumped by the question, “Why do you want to work here?” during an interview?
If so, you’re not alone.
This is a common question that often catches people off guard, leading them to give answers that miss the mark.
In this week’s video I shed light on the right way to approach this question.
You will learn the importance of understanding that it’s not about what the company can do for you, but rather what you can do for the company.
Many candidates make the mistake of answering this question from a self-centered perspective.
They may mention the benefits, salary, or commute convenience without considering how their skills and accomplishments align with the company’s needs and values.
To craft a winning answer, I share a two-pronged approach.
First, thoroughly analyze the job description and highlight your skills and achievements that directly relate to the position’s responsibilities.
This demonstrates that you are a suitable match for the role.
Secondly, conduct in-depth research on the company.
Explore their website, utilize resources like Dun and Bradstreet, and examine their LinkedIn page. Look for information that aligns with your core values and aspirations.
By showcasing your knowledge of the company’s initiatives, values, or social responsibility efforts, you demonstrate genuine interest and compatibility.
In the video, I share an example of how you can specifically do this.
