Landing that final interview is a huge achievement—but what exactly are they looking for at this stage?
After speaking with countless C-level executives and senior managers, I’ve discovered one consistent answer. They want to make sure you’re a fit.
It’s about how well you align with the company’s culture and the team you’ll be working with.
So, what can you expect?
You are likely facing one of two types of interviewers: those who entertain and those who prefer to be entertained.
The first type will do most of the talking. They’ll tell you about the company, the team, and maybe even their own career.
Your job is to keep them talking. You will do this by asking well thought out and researched questions.
The one who prefers to be entertained will be more quiet. These will be the ones who ask you a question and then sit back, waiting for you to impress them.
This is where your STAR and SOAR stories come into play.
You’ll want to share significant accomplishments. Whether challenges you overcame or key achievements.
Your stories need to stand out.
Finally, keep this in mind: this interview is not just for them to assess you. This is also your chance to evaluate them as well.
You want to make sure that the role excites you and aligns with your values.
