I’ve heard this question countless times from my clients: How do I ace that panel interview?
In this week’s video, Panel Interviews Demystified, I share what to expect and some strategies to help you shine when facing these interviews.
For example, research is key.
If you can get the names of those on the panel beforehand, do a little detective work.
Review their LinkedIn profiles and check if you share any connections or interests.
Nailing a panel interview isn’t just about your skills – it’s also about your fit with the team.
And let’s not forget the power of names.
Everyone loves to hear their own name.
Use names and flash a friendly smile whenever you can. Making a personal connection matters, whether it’s on-screen or in person.
And although compatibility is paramount, you can expect to be quizzed on your skills as well.
Remember, these aren’t just interviewers, they’re future colleagues. They will likely know more about the details of the position than the hiring manager.
So be ready to show your skills too.
As with all interviews, review your resume before the interview and make note of your accomplishments.
Think SOAR –
- Situation
- Obstacle
- Action
- Result
This bit of preparedness beforehand will help you discuss your accomplishments clearly and confidently when asked.
