Are you thinking about a career shift but worried about your age?
Let me tell you, you’re never to old to follow your dreams.
Drawing from personal experience, imagine my life around the age of 50, thriving as a VP in the tech sector.
Despite my success, I knew I did not want to be doing the same work when I was 60.
I harbored a vision of venturing into the realm of teaching online college courses.
However, there was a significant impediment standing in the way – education.
Armed only with a bachelor’s degree, I needed to acquire at least a Master’s, if not a PhD.
This decision might strike you as audacious, but at 50, I returned to school and earned a Master’s in Leadership.
All so I could teach online college at 60.
Amidst this academic journey, I took a course in executive coaching.
This unanticipated discovery altered my trajectory.
I discovered my love for coaching.
After graduating, I embarked on a new path and received my certification in coaching.
Fast forward to 2015, I bid farewell to my full-time tech role, birthing my coaching practice.
Undoubtedly, it’s been a rollercoaster, replete with highs and lows, but without an iota of regret.
The crux of the matter?
It’s never too late for a career metamorphosis.
Be it acquiring further education, seeking a new professional avenue, or charting an entirely novel course, age need not serve as a prohibitive factor.
