Are you struggling navigating job hunting rejection?
A few years ago, I took the Gallup StrengthFinders Entrepreneurial Assessment, which revealed risk-taking was my number one core strength.
While this may be an admirable trait, it also comes with its fair share of challenges, the biggest being rejection.
Rejection, whether in the professional or personal realm, can be excruciating.
It feels like a physical blow to the gut.
But did you know that there’s a scientific reason behind why rejection hurts so much?
Researchers have discovered that rejection travels the same neural pathways as physical pain.
In essence, our brains process rejection as a form of physical injury.
Our reaction to rejection is also rooted in our evolutionary history.
Back in the days of cavemen, being rejected from a tribe meant certain death.
We’re wired to feel a strong need to belong. When that need is unmet, it sends us on a mission to dismantle our self-esteem.
We begin focusing on our perceived faults and shortcomings.
The pain of rejection is real, and it’s important to acknowledge it.
But here’s the good news: time will heal.
What you’re feeling today won’t be the same a year from now.
But even now, there are steps you can take to ease the pain.
And this is what I discuss in today’s video.
Navigating Job Hunting Rejection
Remember, the pain of rejection is natural, and it’s built into our DNA.
But you will heal, and you’ll come out of it stronger.
Rejection is a part of life, and how we handle it shapes our character.
