Job hunting tips for older workers.
As a career coach primarily working with professionals in mid-to-late career, I can attest age discrimination exists.
This can certainly be a challenge for older workers looking for a new job or those currently in career transition.
For example, updating an outdated resume. Using the same resume for the past 20 years – just updating the latest positions held.
Besides aging oneself unnecessarily, a 20-year-old resume is likely not working when it comes to applicant tracking systems.
Another mistake older workers make is not leveraging LinkedIn.
According to research by Statista, as of December 22, only 28% of LinkedIn users were over the age of 50.
With LinkedIn being the number one source recruiters use to search for candidates, many older workers are being overlooked in this area.
In my latest video, I go into five common mistakes older workers often make.
