Age proof your resume if you are over 40.
As we all know, it’s easy to make assumptions about people before we ever meet them.
Whether it’s their location, their job, or even their age, we often jump to conclusions about others without even realizing it.
But one assumption that is particularly harmful is age discrimination. Unfortunately, it’s a reality that many people face in the job market.
In 2017, the Chronicle published a study that showed just how real age discrimination is.
The study sent out 13,000 fake resumes to 20,000 real job openings.
The only difference between the resumes was the graduation date, which indicated the age of the job seeker.
The results were striking.
Resumes indicated job seekers between 39 and 41 years old received the most callbacks, while those that indicated the job seeker was over 62 received the least.
So, what can you do to age-proof your resume?
That is the topic for this week’s video:
You will learn 5 tips to ensure that your resume doesn’t give away your age and that you’re not being passed over for jobs because of assumptions about your age.
Remember, always walk into an interview with your head held high, confident, and ready to impress.
