In today’s video, I share 3 job board tips to help you increase your chances of landing an interview by using online job boards.
Although job boards are one of the least effective ways to find a job, you can still use them as a resource.
First, keep in mind that the chances are good that your resume will go automatically into an applicant tracking system (ATS).
These systems are used by over 90% of Fortune 500 companies and 35% of small to medium-sized companies.
The ATS matches your resume to the job description and ranks it based on keywords.
Therefore, make sure to customize your resume to the job description and include the relevant keywords. Also, avoid using custom-made templates or images that may not be compatible with most applicant tracking systems.
Second, you need to get your act together on social media, especially LinkedIn, as there is a high chance that employers will check your profile once they have selected your resume.
Ensure that your LinkedIn profile is complete, up-to-date, and consistent with your resume.
Make sure that your profile picture is professional, your headline stands out, and your summary is engaging.
Finally, leverage your network to get referrals for the jobs you are applying to online.
As statistics show, 85% of positions are filled through networking and referral.
Networking can open up many doors that would have otherwise remained closed.
